💁‍♀️ Let’s Talk Curls: 6 Fun & Fabulous Ways to Dry Type 3 Hair!

If you’ve got Type 3 curls — whether they’re soft spirals or tight ringlets — then you already know that drying your hair can either be a blessing… or a total frizz fest. But don’t worry, curlfriend — we’ve got your back!

Let’s explore the best (and most fun!) ways to dry your curly crown while keeping definition, bounce, and shine in check.

🌀 1. Air Drying — The Classic Chill

Perfect for: Minimal heat lovers and lazy Sunday vibes.

Let those curls do their thing, naturally! Air drying is great for reducing heat damage and keeping your hair soft and hydrated.

Pros:
✅ No heat damage
✅ Super low effort
✅ Saves electricity

Cons:
❌ Takes foreverrr (especially 3C hair!)
❌ Can lead to shrinkage or flat roots

Pro Tip: Apply a lightweight curl cream or gel while your hair is still soaking wet to lock in definition.

🌬️ 2. Diffusing — For Definition & Volume

Perfect for: Bouncy curls that make a statement.

Attach that funky bowl-shaped diffuser to your blow dryer, flip your head, and get ready for volume city! Diffusing speeds up drying while maintaining your curl pattern.

Pros:
✅ Enhances volume and curl clumping
✅ Faster than air drying

Cons:
❌ Can cause frizz if used on high heat
❌ Needs a diffuser attachment and some technique

Pro Tip: Use the “hover” technique — keep the diffuser near your curls without scrunching them right away to reduce frizz.

🧣 3. Plopping — The Game-Changer

Perfect for: Curl definition, reduced frizz, and TikTok-worthy results.

Wrap your wet curls in a cotton T-shirt or microfiber towel (never terry cloth!) and let them “set” into their natural shape. It’s like a little nap for your curls!

Pros:
✅ Enhances curl pattern
✅ Reduces water dripping
✅ Speeds up drying time

Cons:
❌ Can flatten roots if left too long
❌ Not ideal for very long, thick hair

Pro Tip: Plop for 15–30 minutes, then air dry or diffuse the rest of the way for mega definition.

🚿 4. Wet Styling & Sitting Under a Hooded Dryer

Perfect for: Special occasion curls or wash-and-go perfectionists.

Apply your products while soaking wet, then sit under a hooded dryer like the queens do in the salon. Hello, glossy ringlets!

Pros:
✅ Even drying with set curls
✅ Great for defining styles and wash-and-gos

Cons:
❌ Time-consuming
❌ Not everyone owns a hooded dryer

Pro Tip: Section your hair before going under the hood to ensure even drying.

💨 5. Stretch & Blow Dry (Low Heat)

Perfect for: Those who want to stretch out shrinkage but still rock curls.

Use a blow dryer with a concentrator nozzle to gently stretch sections of your curls while drying. This adds length without totally straightening your hair.

Pros:
✅ Reduces shrinkage
✅ Adds volume
✅ Great for styling

Cons:
❌ Risk of heat damage if overdone
❌ Might loosen curl pattern

Pro Tip: Always use a heat protectant and keep the dryer on low or medium heat!

🧖 6. Microfiber Turban Wrap

Perfect for: A gentle start to your drying routine.

Swap the rough towel for a soft microfiber turban wrap to gently absorb water without roughing up your curls. A total win for Type 3 hair!

Pros:
✅ Reduces frizz
✅ Helps speed up drying
✅ Comfortable and convenient

Cons:
❌ Won’t fully dry hair
❌ May need to follow up with air drying or diffusing

Pro Tip: Wrap curls upright in a pineapple shape to maintain root lift.

🌟 Final Curl Wisdom

Type 3 curls are beautiful, bouncy, and full of life — and the way you dry them can totally change your look!

  • 💧 Start on soaking wet hair for max definition
  • 🌿 Seal in moisture with leave-ins or curl creams
  • ⏱️ Be patient — rushing the drying process can lead to frizz and drama

So go ahead, try a new method, mix it up, and give your curls the love they deserve. Your hair isn’t just drying — it’s thriving. 💕

Revive Your Curls: My Experience with Inecto’s Curl Club

Hello, Today I would like to share my experience of using the curl club range by inecto! Each of these products cost me £2.99 each. The reason I wanted to try this range out is because I am trying to get my natural curls back, after watching hours of YouTube advice videos on ” how to get back your curls ” and ” How to get curls back when your hair is damaged

I realized I needed some products suited to curly hair to give my curls the correct chance to thrive. So excited to share my results with you.

250ml Curl club moisture boost conditioner : Amazing conditioner contains coconut, shea and castor all great for hair growth and dry and damaged hair! Again easy to use !

250ml Curl club sls/sulphate free shampoo :

200ml curl club curl defining cream : This has to be my favorite product in the curl club range, it contains natural oils, castor oil, coconut & shea butter. You can apply this on damp hair or on dry hair to revive you hairstyles.

300ml Curl club pre & post hair mask : This was easy to apply, just had it on for 10 minuets to prepare my hair and then moved on to using the shampoo and conditioner!Apply it to wet hair for a more intense conditioning treatment or apply to damp. My hair was damp when I applied the mask But I think I will only put it on wet hair as I need more moisture in my hair.

So I was super impressed at how defined my curls looked after my first use of the products all together! My hair is bleached and damaged so it will take some time to get my curls back to a good standard but for a first go I was so happy.
