History of henna brows
Henna, derived from the leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant has been used for thousands of years in cultures worldwide, such used for hair dying and body art such as in india and ancient egypt. The use of henna on brows became popular is south Asia and the middle east before it become popular in western salons. Western clients wanted a more natural and long lasting look. Rather than using traditional tints which contain peroxide/ammonia.
Benefits of Henna brows
Nourishing properties : The henna nourishes the skin and hair follicles and can promote growth so as well as getting a tint you are getting some nourishment on your brows.
Longer lasting results that traditional tints : Henna brows can last up to 6 weeks and the skin tint can last up to 2 weeks behind the brow. This gives less need for touch ups and less treatments.
Grey hairs covered : Henna dye takes to grey hairs very nicely. No more grey hair !!!
A gradual fade of colour : The colour diminishes over time and gives a nice natural fade which can still look really nice on your brows.
How to do henna brows
Clean eyebrows with cleanser of makeup, dirt or oil this will create a lovely base for long lasting results. Next step is to outline the brows ( mapping & outlining ) usually with a white pencil to create the perfect shape for henna application. Check client is happy with shape! Start applying henna mixture to the clients brow from the tail moving to the front, if you smudge it quickly wipe of with a micro brush or wipe. Wrap eyebrow in cling wrap and proceed to next brow and do steps again!
Mixing the henna will take a few minuets as it needs to be mixed and stand for a minute to allow developing to occur. I have seen so many times beauticians rush this stage, in my salon i like to take my time as I want perfect results for my clients !
Allow development of around 15 minuets and then clean off the henna using cotton pads and wipes.
