A day trip to Calderglen zoo to see the meerkats mainly ! It’s a small zoo with a small collection to see but it was really fun, the meerkat you can get really up close to them to experience them. There is a gift shop on site alongside a café, there’s a golf course and acres of glen to explore.. Under 3s get in for free so its a great day out for wee ones, there was so many wee ones laughing and smiling at the animals.

Calderglen Country Park has a Zoo and tropical conservatory, ornamental gardens, nature trails and walks, courtyard café, toddlers’ play area, adventure play area and an 18 hole golf course.

There was a wildcat in the zoo but unfortunately he wouldn’t come out of his hiding space, I waited for a while but he must have been sleeping but overall it was great to get so close and experience the animals, The garden area is well kept with lots of lovely flowers and areas to sit on a nice day.

A massive spider must be a prop left over from halloween 🦇

The zoo is well kept and you can see the workers take pride in keeping this place clean and functioning, the animals seem happy and well looked after, you can see fish, monkeys and birds etc. If your into meerkats then this is your place, lots of meerkat trinkets in the shop and also you get so up close at the meerkat enclosure.

A great wee gift shop full of kids toys
