Digital Declutter: Boost Productivity and Mental Health

Declutter your digital space, be more productive and waste less time, our mental health can suffer if we don’t keep our online spaces tidy and organised. Clean out your computer, tablet or phone, such as old pictures or hardly used apps. Ever needed a certain file or picture and had to look through tons of stuff saved in your documents ? Well it sounds like you need a digital declutter.

Questions to ask yourself while looking through apps on your desktop or phone is ” Why do I use this ” or ” Do I really need this… Does it add joy to my life.. does it make me productive? ” If not get rid, Your time and energy are precious.

Uninstall disused games or apps that don’t serve you, you may even find things you forgot you downloaded. Deleting files and apps will free up space and storage on your phone for things that bring you joy and add to your life. Your digital space is a reflection of you, its part of your mental health as you probably view your desktop or phone everyday. A good tip is to put a motivational wallpaper on your desktop so you can view it everyday, maybe even a family picture to remind you what’s important in life.

Remember that phones, tablets and computers are meant to work for YOU, you do not work for THEM. They are supposed to make doing work faster and making connecting to people quicker. Make your devices work around what YOU need!

Pictures and Videos

We are all guilty of taking and storing literally thousands of pictures and videos, trips away, boyfriends and girlfriends… horrible images at the wrong timings. Have a look through and clean them out, delete the ones you will never use and backup the ones that are important to you. Better yet don’t rely on a device to store them . Print them out and make a collage for the wall or send them to friends and family.

Emails

Emails, thousands and thousands of emails sit in our inbox are we really sure what’s lurking in there ? When I did an email declutter to my horror I noticed an email from an old friend that I had not seen.. it resulted in our friendship ending because I did not see it and reply. I had assumed that they had given up on the friendship. Sad. Other emails were important appointments that I had missed. The list goes on. I realised that email decluttering is so important
